Mu Epsilon chapter was chartered on April 22, 1978 at Christian Brothers University (then named Christian Brothers College) in Memphis, TN. Our dynamic charter members saw the need for unity and sisterhood among the few black women on Christian Brothers' predominantly white campus. Alpha Kappa Alpha was the FIRST Greek Organization on Christian Brothers' Campus. The ladies of Mu Epsilon helped established the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity chapter at CBU, which was the second Greek Organization on campus. The primary goal of the Mu Epsilon chapter is to uphold the motto (by culture, and by merit) and purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
